Trista's Thoughts...

Trista has always been very "inquisitive"...probably should just stop there. She thinks very deeply and often comes up with some very "deep" questions. She also has an ornery side to that. I am sure the staff at Marsh Elementary are holding back telling me all of her "thoughts." In fact, the counselor brought up Trista in a meeting at the school the other day. I am sure at that moment, every ounce of color I have in my face (including my freckles) went white. Oh no! Panic! What did Trista tell the counselor this time? Turns out it was a very relevant story about how being capable means handling all emotions well. She used the example of when daddy broke out his back windshield (just a few weeks ago). She told everyone that it had almost ruined his day but he didn't let it. Instead, he wanted to have fun as a family and so we went to Chuck-E-Cheese's and stayed at a hotel. Few things interesting: she paraphrased what daddy said and even took the cuss words out (yeah!), and I think it was actually me that had to calm daddy down to stay in town and not let the windshield ruin our trip. Either way, she is a very brilliant girl that already tries to understand the depth of feelings. Now, the whole reason I started this post. Last night Trista and Tanner had been playing basketball, grocery store, and all their other little games. They actually play very well together and I am happy for it. Awhile later, she came up to me and asked (very serious) "Mom, do you think we could take Tanner back to God and trade him for a girl?" I kept a straight face and asked "Why would you want a sister instead of Tanner?" Her response, "Because boys are mean and sisters are not." I quickly assured her that girls are plenty mean and that she would fight with a sister as well. She seemed content with this. She went up to Tanner and said "I guess I better just play with you since I don't get a sister." And, of course, there is Tanner with a big grin on his face not even realizing she just tried to give him away! I need to write down all of these little actions/words so that I will always remember them...they are so sweet (most of the time).
