a few good men...

this past weekend was the annual casb (school board) convention in colorado springs. curt and the kids decided to tag along, BUT first i had to pick up curt after he dropped off his forklift and semi at his jobsite near la veta pass. curt left bright and early and we followed soon after. curt ended up breaking down about 4 miles away from his destination. luckily, he was out of the way in a very pretty place and we were there shortly to get him. then came the problem...how to get the 1980 Mack home? we thought about just leaving it to whomever owned the land, but figured they would get mad about being stuck with it. the engine appears to be shot and the Mack just isn't worth a whole lot of money without a working engine. thankfully, kc and wade came over on saturday to meet us and brought 2 semis with to haul everything home. of course, the semi wouldn't even start by this point and so the Mack had to be towed by our pickup onto the kc's lowboy. it was an interesting and scary feat, but ended succesfully. the kids were awesome thanks to dvd players (it ended up taking ~3-4 hours to load everything and be on our way). we made it to alamosa by 8pm and stopped for a bite at chili's and then made it home safely! we are so thankful for the willingness of kc and wade to bail us out and then unload everything at our house sunday. goes to show...there are a few good men out there!
